How soon in advance should I start to prepare my home for sale?

We will list our house April or May. How far in advance should I start preparations?

I will have it painted inside, re-carpeted, and re varnish the trim. But I also plan to wash the blinds, pack up stuff to store off site to make the house look less cluttered, etc.

Should I start some things now or just wait until after Christmas or closer to listing time?

Wait until after Christmas and try to schedule things to be completed by March.
