Does anyone know of a website with cheap reliable cars for sale in Indiana?

February 13th, 2010 admin Posted in cars for sale 3 Comments »

My family e looked but and I are in need of a cheap but reliable mini van? I have been looking but having no luck.

Used cars can be found everywhere. But it is your job to find the reliable from junk. People don’t say, oh I have a junk so I won’t list it in the GOOD CAR LISTING.

Everybody hopes to get the best selling price. So everybody pretends their used car for sale is in good condition.

So do your due diligence and do your research.

Don’t think that used car dealers are any better. In fact they are worse. MSNBC had a news story on where is the best places to buy used cars. The used car dealers were on the BOTTOM of the list. They are pros at negotiations (and you and I are rank amateurs), they are pros at hiding problems on their cars, etc.

The private sales (newspaper, etc.) were the best places. The seller will not tell you all the problems, but they don’t know how to hide them.

And a private seller are at MOST they are equal in negotiation skills to you and me.

My 94 Civic can get 41 MPG (and I was doing 72 for the mileage test). The engine + tranny + suspension runs like new. It ain’t no beauty but it is rock solid. If I had to sell it, I would not get more than few thousand dollars. This is the kind of car you want to look for.

Just take your time, as good old used cars are cheap but hard to come by.

Good Luck…

World’s Rarest Lambo Goes on Sale, Volkswagen Introduces All New Passat Bluemotion

February 11th, 2010 admin Posted in cars for sale No Comments »

The acquisition of the world’s rarest Lamborghini Bertone Miura Roadster by an American Collector is one that can be considered as a history making sale. Adam Gordon, a New York real estate developer and car collector was the lucky person who bought the Lamborghini’s Miura.

The Miura is said to be the most beautiful and undeniably the most desirable post-war sports car ever built for the road. Only 767 Miuras were built between 1967 and 1973. The P400SV now commands prices of up to $800,000. In the year 1968 Lamborghini’s factory produced a single Miura Roadster designed by Bertone for the 1968 Brussels Car Show.

The prototype was later presented at car shows throughout the world before it was finally sold to the Boston Museum of Transportation where it remained for many years before it was bought by various prominent collectors. Despite the fact that demands for a production version of the Miura Roadster was overwhelming but still has remained a one-off.

And today the world’s only factory Lamborghini Miura convertible has once again makes its way to another collector. Mr. Gordon plans to restore the car to its original 1968 Brussels Salon glory. Gary Bobileff, a renowned Lamborghini restoration specialist is tasked to do the project.

The restoration to be done on the Miura Roadster is not going to be easy since it’s going to be a group-up restoration and will require not lesser than two years. It is expected that after the restoration the Miura Roadster will once again become one of the rarest and most valuable classic cars in the world.

Lamborghini historian and author of the soon to be released book “Lamborghini Miura” Joe Sackey says, “This event is automotive history in the making. Consider that Ferrari’s ultimate GTO is valued by some in excess of $12 million and even though they have competition heritage, 39 were supposedly made. The Miura Roadster is a true one-off, by comparison, and even though it is not competition inspired, its heritage is that of a “prototype show car” perhaps even more valuable to some collectors.”

In other news: In Wolfsburg Germany, Volkswagen, Europe’s largest automaker and brand of famous auto parts like Volkswagen heater core is set to unveil the second of what it promised in the extended range of BlueMotion models at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show scheduled next month. The automaker is proud to present its super-frugal version of the sixth-generation Passat capable of running up to 870 miles in between fill-ups.

The new Passat, scheduled to go on sale across Europe later this year would be offered in both sedan and wagon body styles. The vehicle is rumored to achieve a combined city/highway average of 47 mpg which is a 6.6 mpg improvement on the standard Passat model. Such development is brought about by the series of detailed upgrades that are likened to those already seen on the Polo BlueMotion.

Carbon dioxide emissions were also reduced by nearly 10% — allowing the new Passat to conform to the European Commission’s proposed emissions standard for 2008. Other details about the new Passat have not yet been revealed by Volkswagen but Inside Line sources say that the front-wheel-drive of the Passat BlueMotion is powered by a specially tuned version of the automaker’s famous 105 HP 1.9 liter four cylinder diesel engine, mated to a six speed manual gearbox.

The new Passat is also given a reworked body shell with aerodynamic upgrades, a new front bumper and grille designed to lessen drag. The other features adopted by the new Passat are low-rolling resistance tires and a reworked gearbox with taller 5th and 6th gears.

Vauxhall Cars History

February 7th, 2010 admin Posted in cars for sale 3 Comments »

Vauxhall cars (the company is known as Vauxhall Motors) was born in UK and it became a very well known car company. Vauxhall Motors is a company subsidiary of General Motors- the world’s largest automaker.

The company was founded by Wilson Alexander in 1856 in a beautiful London city that gives the company name- Vauxhall. Initially, the company name was Alex Wilson and Company, then Vauxhall Iron Works and it was specialize in building pumps and marine engines.

First Vauxhall car was built in 1903. It was a 5 hp model, using a tiller, 2 forward gears and no reverse gear. Interesting, don’t you think? Beginning with this model, the car was designed in many other versions and then were available for sale.

When things start working, the company decided to increase its production and moved almost entire production to Luton in 1905. The company was selling cars under Vauxhall Iron Works brand. This stopped in 1907, when they’ve decided to call the company “Vauxhall Motors”, a name kept over the years, till our days. The company was characterized by its sport models until the 1st World War and then designed only austere models.

Vauxhall Motors was bought by General Motors in 1925 for 2.5 million $. And from that year Vauxhall was influenced by American cars and with Ford (that was Vauxhall’s main competitor) influenced the style of European car manufacturers.

During the 2nd World War car production was suspended because Vauxhall was needed to work on the Churchill tanks which was designed and assembled at Luton in almost 1 year. There were built over 5,600 Churchill tanks.

After the war, car production resumed but models were designed as a more mass-market product leading to expansion of the company. In the 60’s Vauxhall acquired a reputation for making rust-prone models and that was very bad for it. Although the corrosion protection built into models the reputation dogged the company until the 80’s.

From the 70’s, many of company models were designed and built in partnership with Opel in Germany (Adam Opel GmbH- known as Opel is an automobile manufacturer based in Germany). Models like Chevette, Cavalier and Carlton were basically restyled versions of the Kadett, Ascona and Rekord. The Viceroy was a simply new version of Opel Commodore imported from Germany.

And that was the beginning for the “Opelisation” of Vauxhall. General Motors policy was that Vauxhall to be rebadged Opels, designed and developed in Russelsheim with much less help from Luton.

In 70’s and 80’s General Motors sold duplicate cars: Opel and Vauxhall alongside each other. General Motors Europe then began to standardize model names across both brands in early 90’s. Almost all Vaxhall’s models now have the same names as those of Opel (the exception is VX220 sold by Opel as Speedstar).

The Luton plant closed in 2000, but production still continues at the plant in Ellesmere Port. Despite already meeting efficiency targets, Vauxhall has been told to further improve its productivity.

Nowadays Vauxhall and Opel still reside together making the same cars but selling them to different markets.

So remember if you buy an Opel it’s a Vauxhall and vice versa.
