what are some strategies for talking down a cars sales men?
looking to buy a mazda 6 sports edition for 13,000. how do i go about talking him down on the price?
Do as much research as you can before you go to make the deal — Kelley Blue Book; Edmunds, etc. Also, try to learn the "lingo" of car sales — remember at the end of a month, salespeople are trying to make their quota and may be more willing to deal. Good luck.

Keep on lowering the price little by little by going back and forth and when you get to the point were they say no and they had been negotiating with you before just walk out, in most cases they will pretty much follow you out and go down but once you walk out and they bring you back in don’t try to go lower and at the end of the month they do have a quota plus if you would rathe have the slt rather than the st then say that as opposed to price. Hope you get that mazda.

Always be prepared to walk away. I have walked away from a deal, just to be called back the next day by the sales person accepting my offer. Car sales are down right now, so they cant afford to just let people bail on a deal (unless your terms are unrealistic.) Do your research and DO NOT SETTLE, decide on what you want to pay before you ever get to the dealer.
